Help shape CIONZ from the beginning
Open to every Muslim organisation
CIONZ membership is open to any organisation serving the Muslim community or Islamic scholarship in New Zealand — charitable trusts, incorporated societies, mosques, community centres, educational bodies and national initiatives alike.
We do not limit membership to a fixed list of organisations. We do not require an organisation to be large, long-established, or based in a main centre. Small groups and new initiatives have a place here, and a vote. Scholars and professionals are welcome as individual members.
Our shared foundation
CIONZ is founded on the mainstream Sunni tradition — the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah as understood by Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. Member organisations affirm this shared basis, which is set out in our Statement of Adherence and shared with you before any commitment is made.
Membership costs nothing
CIONZ does not charge membership fees. Membership is a commitment of participation, not of money.
Why join CIONZ
Membership connects your organisation to a national platform built on consultation and authentic Islamic guidance. As CIONZ develops, membership is intended to offer:
A collective national voice grounded in genuine consultation;
Access to authentic scholarly guidance through the Majlis al-Ulama (the Council of Scholars);
Governance support, templates and training;
Coordination and cooperation with other Islamic organisations, reducing duplication; and
A structured role in shaping national positions on matters that affect Muslims.
We will be honest about what we can deliver at each stage, and we would rather build lasting value than make promises we cannot yet keep.
Who can join
Membership is open to any organisation or individual that:
- primarily serves the Muslim community or Islamic scholarship;
- commits to the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah and to CIONZ’s Statement of Adherence; and
- is in good standing.
CIONZ’s Statement of Adherence will be shared with your organisation once you register your interest, so you can review it in full before committing.
